The
Blueprint

Before Paul Fabritz trains an athlete, he watches how they move. Then he watches film of their games. Most coaches stop at one of those two things.

James Harden was already one of the most effective offensive players in NBA history when he met Paul Fabritz. He had the handles, the step-back, the Eurostep that made defenders look like they were moving through wet concrete. What Fabritz added to the equation wasn't new moves. It was measurement.

Fabritz runs athletes through force plate testing before a single rep of training begins. He maps how they generate force into the ground, captures joint angles during lateral movement, tracks the biomechanical fingerprint of how each body stores and releases energy. Then he watches film — not to scout opponents, but to understand exactly what physical demands his client's game places on their body. Then the work begins.

It sounds obvious. Nobody else was really doing it.

"Twitch is not purely genetic. You can rewire your nervous system and transform your twitch."

The Method

PJF Performance, founded in 2012 and based in Southern California, has trained 50-plus NBA players. The client list includes Harden, Evan Mobley, Isaiah Mobley, Mac McClung, and Jared McCain. Different positions, different playing styles, different physical needs. That's the point. The methodology is a framework, not a template.

The content that cuts through — nearly a million plays on a single post — sounds like this: "It's okay to be undersized. But it's not okay to be undersized AND slow. That's a tough combo to overcome at the higher levels." That's Fabritz: direct, specific, and building a community of athletes who are tired of vague training advice.

From base strength to reactive spring — the PJF system builds each layer on the last.

Fabritz connects these phases across generations: "Jordan. Hakeem. Kobe. Kyrie. Shai. Wemby. They all use that heel pivot spin on turnaround jumpers out of the wide stance. Small details go a long way." When you can trace a footwork pattern from MJ to Wemby in a single post, you're not just training athletes — you're teaching the game.

What sets the approach apart isn't just the science — it's the integration. Fabritz collaborates directly with athletes' skill trainers, syncing strength work with what's happening on the court. He reads film the way a coach does: not to study the opponent, but to understand what his client's body is being asked to do in competition.

The Vertical Code

For Everyone Who Wants to Jump Higher

The Vert Code — the signature online program — has become one of the most popular vertical jump training systems available. Not because it promises magic, but because it delivers a progression that respects the biology of how the human body actually improves. The 15-minute lower body routine you can do from home, at a park, or on vacation. The band work accessible to anyone.

Mac McClung didn't become a back-to-back Slam Dunk Contest champion on talent alone. He worked with Fabritz. The program is available to anyone.
