Sanji Leg Sweep Views

There is a scene in One Piece Season 2 that cost Taz Skylar nearly two full days of hydration. He went without water for 48 hours. He stopped eating for three. He trained eight to ten hours daily for six months to prepare for one shirtless scene as Sanji, the cook and fighter of the Straw Hat Pirates.

He's clear that no one asked him to do this. He made the choice himself. He also doesn't recommend it.

That clarity matters. Taz Skylar is not selling you on extreme transformation. He's telling you the truth about what he went through — and then building something designed to make fitness more human, not more brutal.

"Season 1, I could barely skip rope for 5–10 minutes without feeling like I was going to die. My legs were heavy. Everything felt slow. So I made it a rule: get better every season."

Taz Skylar

Who He Is

Taz Skylar grew up in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, born to a Lebanese father and an English mother. He worked making surfboards at 15, tried to enlist as a British Army reservist at 21, failed a medical test from a car accident injury. The military path closed. Acting opened.

His breakthrough came through a play he wrote: Warheads, inspired by the PTSD his best friend brought home from service. It earned him an Olivier Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre in 2020. That nomination got him into the rooms that eventually led to One Piece — Netflix's live-action adaptation of the globally beloved manga.

He's now Sanji to hundreds of millions of viewers. The show's promotional content has crossed 57 million plays on a single post. A Tonight Show appearance with the cast hit 7.4 million plays. He is, by any measure, globally famous — and he spent the months before Season 2 documenting every day of training, the bottles he dropped practicing for one specific scene. The audience was watching the cost in real time.

The Honest Part

The Honest Part

In a British GQ interview that traveled far, Skylar disclosed something the fitness industry rarely touches: he had dealt with anorexia and bulimia. The strict calorie counting routines that performing demanded had become unbearable. He tried to reverse course and swung too far in the other direction. He was candid about both.

That honesty — uncomfortable, specific, and publicly shared — is the foundation of what NotFit is. From Day 4 of training for a new Sanji season, he posted with @notfit.io tagged directly in the caption. Not a brand deal. A co-creation. A product built because the founder lived the problem.

NotFit calls itself the Anti-Fitness App. Built for people who don't enjoy workouts, diets, or wellness culture. The sessions are fun, skill-based, and doable in 30 minutes. Nutrition plans built around flavor rather than restriction. Training, stretching, breathing, and eating in one platform.

"I love that we live in a world where Sanji has a fitness app — it's live now btw!" — 23,206 likes. The single biggest proof point for the brand's launch. Men's Health featured the workouts. This is a real company, not a celebrity side project.

"Be less impressed.

Be more involved."

The Mantra

Taz Skylar keeps a few words close: Be the flame, not the moth. It's from Casanova, and he uses it like a compass. The moth orbits the light, drawn to something outside itself. The flame is the thing itself.

The other one is Matthew McConaughey: Be less impressed, be more involved. Stop being awed by the thing. Get into the work.

Both of those ideas live in NotFit — an app built not around the aspiration of someone else's transformation, but around the actual practice of showing up for your own. Taz Skylar is the proof of concept. The extremes he went to are not the point. The honesty about what it actually costs is.

The flame, not the moth. Every time.
